THE “grandfather rule”, an unwritten rule in the local banking scene, has not yet been challenged, as it is. But observers say it could only be a matter of time.

This rule was first applied on the three seasoned bankers of Malaysia, namely Tan Sri Azman Hashim of AMMB Holdings Bhd, Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan of Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (HLFG) and Public Bank Bhd’s Tan Sri Teh Hong Piow.
