Star Media Group is syariah-compliant

PETALING JAYA: Star Media Group Bhd is among the 20 newly classified syariah-compliant securities, according to a statement by the Securities Commission (SC).

The updated list, which takes effect on May 27, features a total of 669 syariah-compliant securities, it said, adding that these securities constitute 74% of the total 905 listed securities on Bursa Malaysia.

The list, approved by the SC’s Shariah Advisory Council, includes the 20 newly classified securities and excludes 15 from the previous list issued in November 2015, it added.

The full list, the SC said, is updated twice a year based on the companies’ latest annual audited financial statements.
