Bursa Malaysia optimistic about FY16 performance


Bursa Malaysia CEO Datuk Tajuddin Atan said the higher earnings in the 9 months were due to the resilient performance of the Securities Market which was supported by continued growth in the Derivatives Market and Islamic Capital Market.
KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Bhd is optimistic of its performance for FY16 although volatility is expected to continue.

Its CEO Datuk Tajuddin Atan said on Thursday with the ringgit and oil price improving and crude palm oil price as forecast, there was more foreign inflows of RM4.8bil to RM5bil this year.

"Things are improving and from investing perspective,  the trading environment is now conducive, given the positives changes.

“Bursa's operating revenue should surpass RM500mil mark this year," said Tajuddin after the AGM.

For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2015, the stock exchange operator recorded operating revenue of RM487.7mil compared with RM471.3mil a year ago.

At midday, the FBM KLCI was down 3.54 points or 0.21% to 1,714.28 while year-to-date, the 30-stock index is up 1.29%.
