AWC bags 10-year’s govt concession renewal worth RM700mil

KUALA LUMPUR: AWC Bhd has secured a 10-year renewal of its concession to maintain Government buildings, as well as a new contract for critical asset refurbishment, worth about RM700mil in total.

The engineering and facility services provider said its unit Ambang Wira Sdn Bhd (AWSB) had executed the privatisation agreement for the concession renewal and the Critical Asset Refurbishment Programme (CARP).

The renewal of its concession to maintain and provide support services for relevant Government buildings in Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Johor and Sarawak is worth about RM555mil.

Under the renewed concession, it said, the company was responsible for the provision of building maintenance and support services for all relevant buildings from Jan 1, 2016 till Dec 31, 2025.

The fee for the first five years is RM52mil per year, after which it is to be revised to RM59mil per year for the remaining five years.

“In the event that the Government builds any new buildings in the zones, AWSB would then be responsible also for the building maintenance and support services for the these future contract buildings at a price to be agreed later,” it said in the announcement to Bursa Malaysia on Monday.

The original concession was between June 1, 1998 and May 31, 2008, after which it was extended for another five years from June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2013.
