Transforming the month of February

These super robots have been part of the rite of passage for many children and still continues to be so, and some even bring them into their adulthood. So are you set to welcome one of the largest showcase of Transformers in Malaysia?

OPTIMUS Prime’s message to all surviving autobots was – “We are here. We are waiting.” Indeed they are, as they as well as some of the other popular Transformer characters will be in the Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting from Jan 31 to Feb 16.

Hasbro’s Transformers have all assembled for their 30th anniversary for the first time in Malaysia at the Tranformers Expo 2014.

Transformers are international icons thanks to the toys, the TV animated programme and feature film, the comic books and in the 21st century, they hit the big screens with a series of blockbuster movies.

Among the highlights will be a 23-feet-tall (7m) Optimus Prime, and other popular characters like Bumble Bee and the Camaro Chevrolet. There will a meet the fan sessions with these popular characters. In addition there will be more than 1,300 collector editions of Transformer figurines.

Visitors to the expo will get to enjoy a few zones including one called Cybertron, the home planet of Transformers. The Cybertron Zone (using 3D Tunnel technology) will take visitors to a technological world where the ‘planet’ features extraterrestrial clans and futuristic cities without end and vast metallic plains, with spiralling metal mountains and bottomless neon-lit chasms.

Here, visitors will witness the never ending battling to control Cybertron and its resources, the Transformers’ epic wars and take part in the war games.

Other zones include Augmented Reality (AR) where the ‘real-world’ environment of Transformers comes alive. This zone is generated with high tech computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video and graphic including the latest holographic technology to take visitors once again to the world of Transformers. Here, interact with BumbleBee or Optimus Prime if you like.

Visit also the Camaro Chevrolet (yes that’s Bumble Bee in disguise) on display. There is also a large area displaying Generation 1 Transformers from its beginning to the latest collection series and also the Collectors’ Exhibition. Here, meet the design team led by Hisashi Yuki, Head Designer of Takara Tomy for Transformers.

If seeing is not enough, the merchandise zone has a large variety of Transformers items for keepsakes of this experience. They include the new Transformers 30th Anniversary merchandise, special edition toys and premium items. Visitors will also have the opportunity to take pictures with the Kreo versions of Transformers mascots during the meet and greet sessions.

The event is organised by Target Exposition Sdn Bhd, in association with Hasbro Incorporated, the marketers of the Transformers brand and with sponsors namely Resorts World Genting, Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Toshiba and Chevrolet.

Tickets are priced at RM45 for children between four to 12 and RM55 for adults. Entrance for infant and children below ages of three is complimentary. Senior Citizens ages 60 and above pay only RM45. Go to for more info.
