PETALING JAYA: Allianz Malaysia continued their efforts to develop young football talents after the Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) 2013 through the introduction of their Legacy programme at the Universiti Malaya ground on Sunday.
The Legacy programme, a continuation of the AJFC, was attended by 25 top players from the AJFC 2013 selections and the top two winners from last year – Luveen Visnu Anandhan and Damien Lim.
The programme was conducted by coach Hamdan Ibrahim and the players’ progress was monitored by head judge of the AJFC 2013 selection panel and former national coach B. Sathianathan.
Allianz Malaysia Berhad chief executive officer Jens Reisch hopes that the programme will help the young players achieve their ambitions to become professional players.
“We saw the boys’ potential at the AJFC trial matches ... they have the talent and skills, with just a little bit more coaching and motivation we can help them pursue their dreams and ambitions of becoming professional players,” he said.
“These boys will continue their football journey with us and meet every quarter of the year until they turn 17 to ensure that their talents will not go to waste.”
This year, teenagers S. Thipanraj, Farid Ashraf Kamaruzaman and Mohd Syawal Rosman were picked from more than 1,500 entries after trials in Kuantan and the SUK Ground in Shah Alam in June to attend the fifth edition of the Allianz Junior Football Camp with Bayern Munich in Germany from Aug 7-12.
