No need to bring in more foreign labourers


THE Government’s decision to bring in another 1.5 million foreign workers from Bangladesh has been criticised by several NGOs and labour organisations. Former minister Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim has also expressed his reservation on this matter.

Last year, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot revealed that about 6.7 million foreign workers, both legal and illegal, are currently working in the country. So do we have to import another 1.5 million more cheap, low-skilled foreign labourers?
