Should JMBs and MCs pay GST?

WE note with great disappointment that Joint Management Bodies (JMBs) and Management Corporations (MCs) are required to pay Goods and Services Tax (GST) for all contributions paid by owners to the Building Maintenance Fund.

JMBs and MCs have been established pursuant to Section 4 of the Building and Common Property (Maintenance and Management) Act, 2007 (Act 663) and Section 39 of the Strata Titles Act, 1985 (Act 318) before and after subdivision, respectively.
