PETALING JAYA: The Global Movement of Moderates has called those behind the Paris attacks cowards.
Its chief executive officer Nasharudin Mat Isa said killing unarmed civilians for whatever cause should never be tolerated.
“We condemn the Paris attacks, and senseless attacks against civilians in other parts of the world, including Syria,” he said.
He said this in response to reports of attacks at six locations in Paris on Friday the 13th that claimed at least 127 lives and injured more than 200.
Nasharudin said the authorities should carry out a transparent investigation to find the real culprits.
“Accusing certain groups without hard evidence is also a form of extremism,” he said.
The coordinated attacks in Paris have brought to question the capability of French authorities in ensuring security in the run-up to the 12-day Paris Summit at the end of the month, at which 191 global leaders are converging to endorse a controversial universally binding agreement on climate change.
This is the second attack in Paris this year.
On Jan 7, terrorists reportedly stormed the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine office and killed 12 people.
However, sceptics are doubting the authenticity of the Charlie Hebdo incident as several video clips allegedly showing that the attack was staged have gone viral.
Nasharudin said the truth must be sought for justice to prevail.
“No quarter should be left out in the campaign against terrorism.
“Groups promoting terrorism come in various forms.
“Therefore, raising awareness on threats of terrorism should be made an important national agenda,” he said.
