Rulers discuss judges and EC members appointments

KUALA LUMPUR: The 239th meeting of the Conference of Rulers discussed matters pertaining to the appointment of judges of the higher courts and the appointment of members of the Election Commission, according to a statement.

The statement, issued by the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Datuk Seri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, said yesterday’s meeting, which was chaired by the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, also discussed the schedule of meetings of the Conference of Rulers for 2016.

The meeting was attended by all the Malay Rulers except the Sultan of Johor, who was represented by the Tunku Laksamana Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim, and the Sultan of Pahang, who was represented by the Tengku Mahkota Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, said the statement.

The Yang di-Pertuas Negeri of Malacca, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak also attended the meeting, it added. — Bernama
