GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said he would sue Malay daily Utusan Malaysia for defamation for allegedly reporting that he and several others were involved in the rally.
“Everyone knows I did not organise the rally. The allegations are slanderous,” he said while holding up the newspaper.
Meanwhile, the DAP has criticised the stomping of photographs of political leaders by protesters.
Party adviser Lim Kit Siang said such actions should not be condoned and denounced it as it could create racial discord.
“We condemn the stomping of photographs of the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang by two Bersih 4 participants.
“Such acts are not the kind of political or civic culture we want,” the Gelang Patah MP said yesterday.
Police are now investigating the incident after two newspapers published pictures showing several people stepping on the photos at the rally.
On Tuesday, Bersih 2.0, the rally organiser, had also denounced the act.
