Rafidah concerned about Malaysia's future

KUALA LUMPUR: As Malaysia celebrates its National Day, Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz (pix) has expressed her concern about the country's future. 

The former cabinet minister said she felt a "deep sadness" over many things, which she said, have cast a "dark shadow" on what should have been a joyous celebration. 

She highlighted key problems plaguing the nation, such as the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue. 

"What has happened to the investigations? It appears things have stalled ... This is not good for the country as there must be serious efforts to get to the bottom of it all," she wrote on her Facebook page on Sunday night. 

Rafidah also touched on the RM2.6bil "extremely generous donation", which she said raised more questions. 

The former International Trade and Industry minister said these issues have become "a sore point" among the people. 

Rafidah also lamented that there has been too much focus on other things and not on economic governance. 

"The private sector confidence in Malaysia will be eroded if businesses cannot find support and cooperation from the Government.  

"There must be continuous interaction with all levels of business so that the private sector can continue to input into the country's economic growth," she said. 

She added that there must be a serious effort to reduce dissatisfaction across the board.
