PUTRAJAYA: A senior Umno leader said to be leading the plot to topple the Government cancelled a meeting on Sunday with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, according to Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic).

The Deputy Prime Minister said he expected a new date for the meeting.

"The meeting was cancelled on the request of the individual.

"No reason was given but the person was probably informed of the huge media presence at the Prime Minister's residence," Dr Ahmad Zahid said after chairing the Cabinet committee on foreign workers here on Tuesday.

He also said that he had given police the relevant information regarding the plot to topple the Government.

"I understand there is also a police report lodged over the matter," Dr Ahmad Zahid added.

Media representatives had camped out at Najib's personal and official residences after it was said that the "plotter" would meet the Prime Minister at 6pm, Sunday.

Reporters and photographers left at about 9pm without seeing anyone going in.

Najib arrived at his house in Jalan Duta at about 7.50pm from Gerik where he had earlier opened the Gerik Umno division meeting.

A black car with a lone woman in a dark suit seated in the back arrived at Najib’s house at about 8pm.

The driver paused for a few minutes in front of the house, but decided to drive further up the road and waited metres away from the main entrance before driving off about 10 minutes later.
