The event's organising chairperson, Marlene Lim, said the event, now in its fifth year, is the largest beauty contest to be staged in east Malaysia.
Lim, a former beauty queen, said during the next week, the finalists will take part in community projects, charity works, educational programmes and outdoor activities that will add an air of excitement to Miri City.
The winners will represent Malaysia in contests such as the Miss Intercontinental in Germany, Miss Supranational in Poland and Miss International in Japan.
