Cops seek public help to identify body found in pool

IPOH: Police are seeking public help to identify the body of a man found floating at an unused mining pond in Pusing, near here.

The victim, believed to be of Indian origin, was found floating by a passer-by at 8.21am yesterday at the pond in front of SMK Pusing, said Batu Gajah OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Nasri Omar adding that the victim was clad only in blue jeans.

“We are unable to identify the victim because his face was eaten by fish and the skin had peeled off.

There were no physical injuries. The body has been sent to Batu Gajah Hospital for post-mortem. he said.

ACP Mohd Nasri said a 49-year-old civil servant, who was on his way to work, spotted the body and immediately informed police.

The pond, which is not fenced, is about 100m from the school and about 300m from the main road.

“Police took the victim’s fingerprints and we are trying to trace family members to claim the body, and help in the investigations. So far, no missing persons report has been lodged.

“Those with information are required to come to the Batu Gajah district police headquarters,” he added.
