KUALA LUMPUR: Irresponsible, reckless and childish are some of the descriptions social media users have painted of the speeding Myvi drivers whose actions caused the deaths of an infant and her parents.
“There are only two kinds of racers,” Mohamed Shah Osman commented on Facebook. “Smart ones who race on proper racing tracks and wannabe racers with super tiny brains.”
Ashley PMun said it was “devastating” to see the photos of the accident and that she felt enraged when she watched the video footage of the Myvi drivers speeding on the expressway.
“The group are brainless and cruel humans who take innocent lives for granted,” she said, adding that it was horrible that their actions claimed three lives.
“Just one stupid act and it took three innocent lives,” said Sabrina Gan, adding that instead of pleading innocence and giving excuses, the Myvi drivers should at least accept responsibility for their actions.
News of the drivers being released on police bail on Sunday also resulted in a wave of angry comments online.
Shalizahanim Shukor said it was “unbelievable” that bail had been granted to the drivers as they had no regard for their own safety, let alone the safety of others.
M. Jacob Mathews said he could not accept that bail had been granted.
“What happened to law, order and justice?” he added.
Police arrested the two drivers over the weekend and released them on bail.
The case is being investigated for reckless driving.
