KOTA KINABALU: Talks on moving the operations of low-cost carrier AirAsia to Terminal 1 of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) here are in the final stage, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pic).
He said he hoped talks would be finalised by the first quarter of this year.
“The talks are still ongoing and are already in the final stage,” Liow told reporters after attending the state-level MCA Chinese New Year open house here Sunday.
He said that by moving the operations to the KKIA main terminal, the problem of passenger congestion at Terminal 2 would be resolved, making it more comfortable for the passengers.
On incentives given to tourists from China to visit Malaysia, he said the ministry was working to increase the number of tourist arrivals from that country this year.
He said last year, one million tourists arrived from China to Malaysia and it is hoped that the number will double this year. – BernamaAlready a subscriber? Log in
