PETALING JAYA: The price of RON95 petrol is likely to be reduced by four sen to RM2.26 per litre for the month of December, according to a document being circulated on social media.
The circular, dated Nov 28, is addressed to the BuraqOil Consortium and appears to have been sent from the Finance Ministry’s tax analysis division.
According to the circular, the price of RON97 will be lowered by nine sen to RM2.46 per litre, while diesel will be priced at RM2.23 per litre, marking an increase of three sen.
Attempts to contact Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah and his deputy Datuk Ahmad Maslan went unanswered, however, a source close to the matter confirmed the authenticity of the circular.
One of Ahmad Maslan’s officers refused to confirm or deny the prices in the circular, when contacted, saying that the announcement had to come from Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Ahmad Maslan took to Twitter shortly after the leak, posting “RON95 and RN97 may be lowered from the current prices from 1 Dec, in accordance with the trend of world oil prices. Wait for the upcoming announcement.”Already a subscriber? Log in
