59,765 foreigners deported this year

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 59,765 foreigners have been deported for various offences, including foreign inmates who completed their prison term, since Jan 21.

Immigration Department director-general Datuk Mustafa Ibrahim said Indonesians made up the largest group (24,614 people), followed by Bangladeshis (6,834), Filipinos (6,483) and other nationalities.

He said foreigners convicted of a crime in the country would be blacklisted to prevent them from re-entering for life or a specific period.

Therefore, he said, the department advised all foreigners to avoid involvement in criminal activities or violation of the law.

He said foreigners who committed offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 would be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further action. - Bernama
