KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian First Initiative (MFI), a non-governmental organisation to promote a fair and equitable society, has started various programmes to connect the different races in Malaysia.
They include an art exhibition, entitled “Sama-sama Malaysia”, featuring more than 30 works by artists such as B. Nargunan, Bob Malik and Loke Chiew to showcase the importance of unity among Malaysians.
The exhibition at the Swara Community Arts Centre, in conjunction with the Malaysia Day celebrations, ends on Sept 23. Proceeds from the sale of the artworks will fund the centre’s music classes.
“The country needs leaders who can connect and unite people from all races and make everyone feel at home,” MFI founder and chairman Datuk Dr Elamaran Sabapathy said in a press statement yesterday.
He said racial ties were not as good as they used to be 20 to 30 years ago.
