Wandering cow on SKVE killed in collision with car

SERDANG: A collision between a Toyota Vios and a wandering cow brought traffic to a standstill at KM0.8 of the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) heading to Putrajaya Friday night.

The cow, believed to be from a farm located near Hospital Serdang, had wandered into the road when a car ploughed into it at about 8.30pm, killing it on the spot.

The driver, financial officer Muhamad Shukri Abdullah (pic below), said he was driving in the middle lane when he noticed the animal but was not able to hit the brakes in time.

"The cow was flung onto my car and the windshield was crushed underneath its weight. It then fell on the road.

"My face slammed onto the windshield. I was injured when shards of broken glass cut my face," said the dazed driver.

He was sent to Hospital Serdang to receive treatment for his wounds.

Bank officer Ahmad Uwais, 25, made the distress call after witnessing the accident and an ambulance arrived within 15 minutes.

"This is not the first time a wandering cow caused an accident in this area. It has happened a few times in the past.

"It is the owner's duty to keep livestock off the road, where they might endanger the lives of road users," he said.
