SERDANG: Although it is PAS' ambition to hold the post of Selangor Mentri Besar now is not the right time, said vice-president Salahuddin Ayub.
"Do not think that we do not want to see a PAS MB, we do. It is our ambition.
"But now is not the time. We will work towards that in a way that will also give a boost to our fight," Salahuddin said when met at a forum.
Salahuddin added that PAS would leave the decision on who should replace Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim in the on-going crisis in the state to the Sultan of Selangor.
"We will leave the decision to the Sultan. We will not ask for the post," he said.
Asked if the party should accept the decision of the central committee (CC) or the Syura Council's orders to abide by party president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang who nominated three names for the Sultan to consider, Salahuddin said he would abide by what the CC had decided.
"As far as I am concerned, the party's decision stands," he said, refusing to comment further.
The CC met on Sunday and decided to reject any post of Mentri Besar even if the Sultan of Selangor chose one of the party's candidates nominated by Hadi.
The party's Syura Council later issued a statement that the CC should abide by the decisions made by Hadi.
