KUALA LUMPUR: Umno has sent a second show-cause letter to Yammy Samat, mother of DAP candidate in the Teluk Intan by-election Dyana Sofia Mohd Daud, after the first was returned by Pos Malaysia Berhad because of a wrong address.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the 14 days given to Yammy to answer the letter, ending last Monday, would be extended for another two weeks.

"I understand the letter we sent was returned probably because the address given was wrong.

"So we got the new address and have resent the letter to her. We give another 14 days (to Yammy)," he told reporters after opening the Avenue K shopping centre here.

On June 3, Umno sent a show-cause letter to Yammy for allegedly campaigning for Dyana Sofia in the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat by-election on May 31.

Dyana Sofia, 27, was defeated by Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Mah Siew Keong, 53, with a majority of 238 votes. - Bernama
