KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese Ambassador Dr Huang Huikang has assured that the strong relations between China and Malaysia has not been affected by the tragedy involving missing Flight MH370 aircraft, said Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.
He said the diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia were able to withstand the tragic incident although there was a dip in the number of Chinese tourist arrivals in Malaysia.
He said the ambassador had assured that on the diplomatic front, the two countries would withstand the test, and that one unexpected event would not spoil the good relations enjoyed by Malaysia and China over the years.

Nazri said Huang also gave an assurance to support Malaysia to regain the confidence of Chinese tourists.
Nazri, in his capacity as Inter-Parliamentary Union Malaysia chairman, and several MPs visited the Chinese Embassy on Thursday.
He said the visit was an expression of solidarity with the Chinese people during this difficult period caused by the missing MH370.
In conjunction with the 2014 Visit Malaysia Year, the government has targeted 28 million tourists to visit Malaysia.
Flight MH370 left KL International Airport at 12.41am on March 8 and disappeared from radar screens about an hour later while over the South China Sea. It was to have arrived in Beijing at 6.30am on the same day.
On March 24, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced that the flight path of the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft "ended in the southern Indian Ocean".

"This is our 40th year of diplomatic relations with China, and we are the first South-East Asian country to do so (with such relations)," Nazri said after launching the 'Warnarasa Malaysia A Food Galore' programme here.
