KAJANG: A 20-year-old Myanmar national was found dead with slash wounds and his throat slit, at the back of a restaurant in Jalan Temenggung 19/9, Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Monday night.
Kajang district deputy police chief Supt Abdul Ghani Mohd Ji said the gruesome discovery was made by a passer-by around 8.15pm.
"The deceased has been identified as Gin Sian Hku.
"He was possibly attacked by one or two of his countrymen following a quarrel," he said.
Supt Abdul Ghani added that a six-inch cleaver was found next to the body.
"The cleaver was not the weapon used by the assailants. Investigation revealed that at the time of the incident, the victim, believed to be a worker at the restaurant, was cleaning fish.
"His hands were covered with fish scales, indicating that he was possibly attacked when he was working.
"We believe that the victim could have struggled to protect himself by running several metres away," he said.
Supt Abdul Ghani said police were tracking down the assailants and urged those with information to come forward.
The body was sent to Serdang Hospital for an autopsy.
