Parliament: Over RM2bil sought for additional expenses

KUALA LUMPUR: The Finance Ministry has tabled the Supplementary Supply Act 2013 requesting over RM2bil to cover specific expenses on services and purposes not provided under the Supply Act 2013.

Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan on Monday tabled the Supplementary Supply Act 2013, requesting a total of RM2,392,077,572 from the Consolidated Fund for additional expenses.

This is on top of the country's budget of RM264.2 bil tabled last year by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also the Finance Minister.

According to the Supplementary Supply Act, the Government is seeking additional budget for various ministries such as the Prime Minister's Department, Public Service Department, Home Ministry and Contribution to Statutory Funds.

Among the largest sum sought is for the Contribution to Statutory Funds amounting RM2,099,876,700.

Others seeking additional funds include the Public Services Department (RM55,600,00), the Prime Minister's Department (RM53,364,492), Works Ministry (RM50,000,000), Communications and Multimedia Ministry (RM46,900,000) and Ministry of Home Affairs (RM15,995,600).
