Missing MAS flight: Do not spread rumours

PETALING JAYA: Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pic) has advised everyone to not spread rumours about missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370.

“Pray for the crew and passengers of flight MH370. Do not entertain or spread rumours or news that has not been confirmed by MAS.

“This is not a competition of who is the fastest at releasing news but a situation where human lives are involved,” he posted his official Facebook account on Saturday.

Only hours after reports surfaced of the missing plane, rumours circulated on the Internet that the plane had made an emergency landing at Nanning, China.

However, MAS promptly released a statement confirming that such reports were false.

"We have checked with ground control and it’s not true,” said Fuad Sharuji, VP Operation Control on Saturday.

“As of now, we still have no clue on where it is right now” he told CNN at 10.45am.

According to MAS, Subang Air Traffic Control lost contact with the aircraft at 2.40am, Saturday. It departed at 12.41am on 8 March and was expected to land in Beijing at 6.30am the same day before contact was lost.
