Zahid Hamidi: Government grants Malaysian citizenships sparingly

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian citizenship is the "highest award" the Federal Government's can give a non-citizen , and will not be simply handed out to any applicant.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this in a written response to Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut) who asked about the latest number of red MyPR card holders and whether the Government was ready to give citizenship to holders who had been residing in Malaysia since Independence.
