'Agents of Mayhem' coming from 'Saints Row' studio

The studio behind the Saints Row and Red Faction franchises, Volition, has debuted new game "Agents of Mayhem" by way of a four minute CGI announcement trailer. 

With Saints Row its most recent ongoing concern, the team has gained a reputation for concocting chaotic and sometimes surreal sandbox experiences. 

 

While this early glimpse of Agents of Mayhem contains a number of references to the Saints Row franchise, of which it is a part, there are indications that Volition is targeting three-player co-op in a sci-fi setting more closely associated with the Borderlands series instead, while tapping into the tropes of the superhero genre currently so popular in cinemas. 

Agents of Mayhem is due for release in 2017 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. 

The game was revealed ahead of the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo, June 14-16, with publisher Deep Silver having telegraphed a "major announcement" at the event; Saints Row fans hope for more specifics on Agents of Mayhem now that a backstory has been established. — AFP Relaxnews
