Google officially launches Nexus 6P and Huawei Watch in Malaysia

The Nexus 6P and Huawei Watch comes with pure Google experience with vanilla Android and Android Wear operating systems.

KUALA LUMPUR: The wait for the Nexus 6P is finally over as Google today officially launched its latest smartphone here.

The Huawei-made flagship is also the first in the Nexus line to feature a full-metal unibody, USB Type-C connector and a fingerprint sensor, located under the lens at the back of the device.

Unlike the larger first-gen Nexus 6, the 6P comes with a smaller 5.7in Amoled display which now boasts a QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and 518ppi (pixels per inch).

Key to the device is the new 12.3-megapixel camera, equipped with f/2.0 aperture and laser autofocus, which is capable of shooting 4K videos.

Not only that, it has larger 1.55 micron pixels which is able to capture more light in the dimmest conditions and offers improved low-light outdoor shots. The front-facing camera is rated at 8-megapixel.

Other notable specs include the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB RAM, 64GB of internal storage and a large 3,450mAh battery.

Unlike other devices in the market, Nexus devices are popular due to the pure Android experience with an unaltered operating system, currently running the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Also launched at the event was the much-awaited Huawei Watch which runs on Android Wear.

The timepiece sports a fully circular stainless steel body and features an Amoled display.

It is also not your regular watch as it is powered by a Qualcomm 1.2GHz processor with 4GB of storage, 512MB RAM and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity.

“The devices we are launching today stand out because the symbolise the future of connectivity,” said Danny Chin, Huawei Technologies Malaysia consumer business group southern pacific marketing director.

Both devices will be available from Dec 10.

For the Nexus 6P, the Malaysian market will receive two colours – Aluminium and Graphite – priced at RM2,698.

For the Huawei Watch, three variants will be launched here – the stainless steel case with a choice of stainless links bracelet or black leather strap priced at RM1,799 respectively, and a black plated stainless case with black stainless steel links bracelet priced at RM1,999.

Additionally, the first 600 units of Nexus of 6P sold on Vmall.my and Lazada will come with a free Chromecast unit, while stocks last.
