PETALING JAYA: Kemarol Baharin shot a five-under 67 to take the lead at the halfway stage of the PGM Tour’s Swiss Garden Closed Championships at the Damai Laut Golf & Country Club in Lumut.

The RM160,000 tournament is the second stop on the PGM calendar.

The Kuala Lumpur player ended the second round with a total of 139 on Thursday for a three-stroke advantage over first-round leader Hans Jamil.

Hans, who carded a 69 on Wednesday, dropped to second with a 73 on Thursday.

In joint-third place are Rashid Ismail and S. Murthy who both shot a total of 145. Behind the top three are R. Nachimuthu, Shaaban Hussin and Iain Steel who are tied on 146.

“I had seven birdies in this round and two bogeys. The course was dry and tough to play. But luckily my putting was good for me today,” said Kemarol.

He will be looking to claim his second consecutive trophy on the PGM Tour calendar after winning the I&P Templer Park Classic last month.
