Thailand leads 1-0 after own goal by Malaysian keeper

PETALING JAYA: The score in the ongoing Malaysia - Thailand SEA Games football finals is now 0-1 due to an own goal scored by Malaysian keeper Haziq Nadzli.

Haziq accidentally punched the ball into the Malaysian net while trying to intercept a corner kick.

The match started off with both teams taking their time getting into the rhythm but Thailand had better chances at scoring.

The final is a repeat of the 2001 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games where Malaysia faced off against Thailand.

The Malaysian team last won the gold medal in the 2011 Jakarta SEA Games, while Thailand are the defending champions.

The team beat arch-nemesis Indonesia 1-0 in the semi-finals on Saturday night with striker N. Thanabalan scoring the sole goal with a header late in the game.
