KANGAR: Not even the searing afternoon heat could stop cyclist Ahmad Fahmi Farhan Fuat of Pahang from claiming the gold medal in the men’s individual time trial on the Changlun-Kuala Perlis highway.

The 21-year-old Fahmi stopped the clock at 55:15.699 to win the 40km race. Mohamad Nur Aiman Mohd Zariff of Terengganu, who was the fastest rider before Fahmi’s gold-medal feat, grabbed the silver in 55:51.608. Muhammad Mustazlee Ishak of Johor completed the podium in 56:06.142.
