On Saturday, Soon Huat-Shevon put up a fantastic show to beat Olympic champion Tontowi Ahmad and his 23-year-old new partner Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja 21-17, 21-18 in a 41-minute semi-final match at the Sibu Indoor Stadium.

Said Soon Huat: “We never thought that we would come this far. 

Shevon played exceptionally well today. It feels good to beat an Olympian.”
