Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying played poorly in their loss to South Korea

ODENSE: Disappointments were written all over the face of Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying.

The duo were packed off 18-21, 13-21 in the first round of the Denmark Open by South Koreans Ko Sung-hyun-Kim Ha-na in just 31 minutes.

Just five months ago, the Malaysians had beaten the Koreans during a Sudirman Cup tie in Dongguan, China.

So what went wrong yesterday?

“Everything went wrong,” lamented Liu Ying.

“Our communication on court was missing. Peng Soon and I were just not getting it right...one going the other side and one to another side.

“This is one of our worst performances. It was obvious that our condition were not up to the mark today.”

Liu Ying still believed that there was hope for revival at the French Open next week.

“We are still hoping to make the cut for next year’s Olympic Games. We hope to perform better in France. There is still time to recuperate from this setback.”

Peng Soon, who just became a father to his second child last week, was visibly disappointed but did not want to share his emotion over the defeat.

The pair are now lying at the 16th spot in the world. They need to remain inside the top 16 to keep alive hopes of qualifying to the Rio Games.
