RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - Sopita Tanasan of Thailand won the first weightlifting gold medal of the Rio Games, the women’s 48kg, becoming the fourth Thai woman to win Olympic gold in the sport.

Indonesia’s Sri Wahyuni Agustiani took the silver and Japan’s Hiromi Miyake, competing in her fourth Games, won thebronze.
