Film recalls exploits of local war hero

AMID the brouhaha over the screening of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast here, a local film based on the life and sacrifices of Malaysia’s most decorated soldier, former Warrant Officer (I) Kanang anak Langkau, has been largely ignored.

I went to watch the film, titled Kanang Anak Langkau: The Iban Warrior, last Friday. Of course, I did not expect anything like a Michael Bay or Ridley Scott production but I hoped it would be at least the same level as Bukit Kepong. I was not disappointed. This is a film about a man, an Iban warrior no less, who had dedicated a large portion of his life to serving his nation.
