INFLUENZA, commonly referred to as flu, is a very common respiratory infection caused by a virus. Often, it masquerades as the common cold.
The World Health Organisation has recommended that every individual should be vaccinated as a routine measure against influenza as it is a vaccine preventable disease. It states that pregnant women must be prioritised in this respect. The vaccine is not given if the person is allergic to it.
