Dialogue in the Dark needs new home

20 students from LEO Club will bring the blind on a walk from MAB to the Lake Gardens area.

EARLIER last year, I was fortunate enough to be involved in a four-month professional volunteering fellowship programme that allowed me to work closely with the social enterprise Dialogue in the Dark (DiD) Malaysia. DiD’s lease at its premises expired at the end of last year and it is desperately seeking a new location to which to relocate.

Dialogue in the Dark is an awareness-raising exhibition and experiential learning centre which is open to the public and has welcomed over hundreds of Malaysians and international visitors through its doors. It offers guided tours, business and educational workshops as well as cuisine in the dark events. More importantly, it provides safe and sustainable employment opportunities for blind and visually impaired Malaysians who otherwise have limited and less than desirable options when it comes to job-seeking.
