Strict enforcement is the only way

I REFER to the letter “Cabbies park openly in bus lanes” (The Star, Dec 12). It is poor enforcement of the laws that lead to people blatantly ignoring traffic regulations.

Issuing summonses to diehard offenders will not deter them. They know they can get away with not paying the fines immediately, and when they do settle, it would be while they can get big discounts. This poor enforcement has resulted in millions of traffic fines being unpaid.
