Sugar is not the sole culprit


WITH reference the letter “Numbed by sugar, salt and all things fried” (The Star, Dec 6), I am surprised that the president of the Malaysia Dental Association chose to venture into the area of human nutrition, and in particular the presently controversial area of sugar and health.

Let me give you the other side of the story, one citing that the sugar industry and the sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) industry are being unfairly, and unilaterally, accused and victimised without adequate or at best controversial evidence.
