More than just a handshake

Some 18 years later: The meeting of Dr Mahathir and Anwar was seen by some as a move to unite two statesmen but as a betrayal by others. Najwan, (behind Dr Mahathir, second from left) was the only person who managed to get a shot of the two former enemies shaking hands.

The “historic handshake” was supposed to be a signal of bigger things to come but the mixed reaction seems to suggest that it was missing the wow-factor.

THEY used to detest each other and have called each other some pretty awful names.
