NEW YORK (Reuters) - Prime Minister Theresa May struck an unusual deal with New York police to help stricken British officials make their flight home on Wednesday: a high-speed escort through airport traffic in exchange for a picture with the British leader.

Fresh from a meeting with U.S. president Donald Trump at the United Nations, May cruised through rush-hour New York traffic in a police-escorted motorcade, but a vehicle carrying eight senior aides was forced to stop with gearbox failure.
