BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungary will set up a new system of courts by January 2020 to handle issues related to state administration but they will be independent of the government, the justice minister said on Thursday, amid EU concerns over the rule of law in the country.
The European Parliament voted last week to sanction Hungary for flouting EU rules on democracy, civil rights and corruption in an unprecedented step. Hungary said it would challenge the decision at the EU court.
