Body found floating in Sungai Perak


IPOH: The body of a local man was found floating on Sungai Perak near Permatang Palanduk Labu Kubong in Teluk Intan.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the deceased is believed to be a local based on the BCG injection mark on his left arm.

"We received information about the discovery of a body floating on Sungai Perak on Saturday (Dec 3) at about 2pm.

"The body was found face down in the waters and caught between some water plants by the river," he said in a statement on Saturday.

"The body is bloated and could not be identified, as there were also no identification documents found.

"The deceased is believed to be in his 40s, has dark skin, medium large body and about 170cm tall," he added.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said members of the Fire and Rescue Department brought the body out of the river.

"The body has been sent to the Teluk Intan Hospital for post mortem," he said.

He also said the case has been classified as sudden death.

"Those with information about a missing family member or friend are to come forward to the police to help with the investigations.

"Information can be forwarded to investigating officer Insp Al Ikhsan Borhan or the district police station at 05-623 3969," he said.
