Corpse of newborn baby girl found floating in Port Klang


PORT KLANG: The corpse of a newborn baby girl was found floating near a jetty here on Thursday (Jan 25) morning.

Members of the public discovered the baby at about 10.30am.

South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Shamsul Amar Ramli said initial investigations showed that the baby was believed to be pre-term between 20 and 24 months.

“There are no signs of injury on the baby. There was little decomposition seen on the remains,” he said here, adding that a post-mortem will be conducted on Friday (Jan 26) morning to determine the cause of death.

ACP Shamsul Amar also called on midwives, private clinics or anyone who knows of any person who had just given birth to contact the police to facilitate investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body.
