Shafie: My statement on Rela was not meant to mock them

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has come out to explain his side of the story after coming under fire for his remarks, which some allege have belittled members of the People's Volunteer Corps (Rela).

While he admitted saying that Rela members were trained for crowd and traffic control and not trained as security personnel against extremist groups, the Parti Warisan Sabah president reiterated that his statement was not meant to mock them.
