KOTA BARU: The number of flood victims in Kelantan has dropped to 10,985 people.
All the victims were housed at 52 temporary relief centres in six districts – Kota Baru, Pasir Mas, Tumpat, Tanah Merah, Pasir Puteh and Gua Musang.
The Welfare Department’s flood information application infobanjir said Pasir Mas topped the number of flood victims at 6,987 from 2,919 families at 31 centres.
The Drainage and Irrigation Department’s infobanjir.water.gov.my portal reported the water level at Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang rose slightly to 10.35m at 4pm yesterday compared to 10.34m at noon. Its danger level is nine metres.
The level of Sungai Golok in Kuala Jambu, Tumpat, dropped to 3.5m compared to 3.52m during the same period. The danger level is 2.5m.
Meanwhile, Kelantan portal ebanjir.kelantan.gov.my reported that no main roads were closed to vehicles as at 4pm yesterday.
In Terengganu, the state saw a slight increase in the number of flood evacuees as at 8am yesterday, with 600 people from 169 families compared to 503 from 149 families at 10pm on Friday.
The State Disaster Management Committee secretariat said the evacuees were being housed at 11 relief centres in six districts – Besut, Marang, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Dungun and Setiu.
The Drainage and Irrigation Department reported that at 9am, the level of Sungai Nerus in Kampung Langkap, Setiu, was 21.44m, higher than the warning point of 20.75m while the level of Sungai Chalok in Setiu was 8.10m, above the warning level of 7.70m.
The level at Sungai Marang at the Pengkalan Berangan Bridge was 2.39m, above the warning point of 2.30m.
