Police say no to Pakatan rally at Padang Timur

KUALA LUMPUR: Police will not accept Pakatan Harapan's application to hold a rally at Padang Timur in Petaling Jaya on Oct 14.

"We made a decision yesterday. We will not accept the application for various reasons," said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun (pic) on Wednesday, adding that police had received a few reports from residents living in the area.

"If I'm not wrong, there are at least four reports. I was informed that 20,000 people are expected to attend but the capacity for the venue is only 10,000," he said, noting that overcrowding could cause congestion in the locality.

Fuzi, however, added that the rally could be held at the Kelana Jaya Stadium.

"If it is possible, they can hold it at the Kelana Jaya Stadium. I feel that it will be more organised and be easier for the organisers and us to control the crowd," he said.

"If they don't accept our suggestion, it is up to them," Fuzi said, adding that police would take action in accordance with the law.
