PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has taken 405 graft cases to court and seized cash and assets amounting to RM334.53mil since August 2016, says Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad (pic).
The MACC chief commissioner also said they had opened 952 investigation papers over the same period.
He was speaking at the opening of the MACC's new complex here on Sunday.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who was speaking at the same event, assured that the MACC's fight against graft will continue to receive the backing and support from the Government.
He said corruption and power abuse was a threat to the nation and also to the people and the future of Malaysia.
"If we are able to fight this, Malaysia will be a successful country that is respected, progressive and competitive. We will be able to achieve our aspirations and goals if we are corruption-free.
"Rest assured that the Government will support the MACC's continuous effort to fight corruption and power abuse," he added.
Najib said his administration, under the Government Transformation Programme, had put in place initiatives to improve transparency.
This includes the setting-up of monitoring units at critical enforcement agencies and that any application for government procurement can be submitted online.
